Day 1. International Conference on Population and Development

Saturday, September 27th

Crown Princess Mary participates in activities related to the UN's General Assembly Special Session on International Conference on Population and Development - ICPD in New York. She will stay in New York for three days, from September 27 to 29.

Program:
  • 8:45 am. The Crown Princess attended the Global Leaders' meeting on Achieving Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment.
  • 11:20 am. Visiting the North Nordic Food Festival during what's called Denmark Day the Crown Princess met Claus Meyer, a Danish cook.
  • 13:30 pm. Crown Princess Mary attended the #Generation2030: Torchbearers for SDB's, focusing on young people's role in the implementation of the new world goal. Here she held the opening speech.
  • 5:00 pm. The Crown Princess attended the event Mobile Innovations for Maternal Health invented by the Danish organization Maternal Foundation. She held the opening speech.

The Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen attended a meeting shortly before 9:00 am. The meeting was also attended by the Crown Princess. Her attendance was followed by another meeting with the Global Leaders' on Achieving Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. This is just a few meetings Crown Princess Mary will attend the next couple of days while staying in New York for a three day conference -the International Conference on Population and Development. The Crown Princess is present because of her commitment to improve women and girls rights, health, well-being and gender equality, including the fact that she is member of the High Level Task Force for the International Conference on Population and Development. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Prince Albert of Monaco are also attending the conference. The meeting is based on the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Program of Action of the Fourth World Congress on Women in 1995, aiming to get leaders to reaffirm the countries' political commitment and determination to achieve the objectives of women's and girls' rights. In a new interview with Crown Prince Frederik, he addressed how important his wife's work for women and girls are. I noticed a thing the Crown Prince said: that his wife is in high demand in the UN-system. Her achievement are impressive and seen by members of global organizations out in the open. He also mention that the Crown Princess, even long before he met her, has always been like this -committed to help others.
After her attendance at the Global Leaders' meeting, it became a little less serious because then she attended the North Nordic Food Festival on ''Denmark Day''. Here she met with the famous Danish chef Claus Meyer. He is just about to open his very own Nordic Food Hall at Grand Central Terminal in New York in 2016. All I see is that the Crown Princess (and Claus Meyer) really enjoyed the time together.

Mary was beautifully dressed in a paisley printed skirt from JOSEPH and a white silk crepe blouse, as seen when she attended the presentation of the best CSR Reporting 2015 on September 7th, here. Since then I have tried to figure out where this stunning blouse is from. I have had Baum und Pferdgarten in mind all along, but now I see I was completely wrong. It has been found at Prada. She embrace a chic and sophisticated look by wearing a creamy wool shawl, jewellery from Marianne Dulong and her Gianvito Rossi Pumps. She also wore a brand new Naledi Copenhagen clutch. Arriving to New York she carried one of her Prada handbags, but the clutch was way more practical when attending a meeting during the day with just enough space for a notebook and pencil. Mary also wore a golden diamond bracelet, but I still do not know where it is from. In a way the style reminds me of Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Do yo have any specific designer in mind? I absolutely love everything she was wearing during the first day in New York. The perfect outfit to represent herself as well as Denmark.

The Crown Princess also attended the #Generation2030: Torchbearers for SDB and the event Mobile Innovations for Maternal Health created by the Danish organization the Maternal Foundation. The event shared knowledge with use of mobile technology to save mothers' and infants' lives in developing countries. This technology has, among others, been developed by the Maternal Foundation. Not that long ago they launched an app called 'The Safe Delivery App' which was also presented at the event. The app is used to help during child births in developing countries. All this took place in the afternoon and at both meetings she gave a opening speech.

Attending these other meetings, the Crown Princess changed to a whole new outfit from when she arrived in the morning. I wasn't aware of that till Kate showed me pictures of her in a stunning bright red dress. A friend of hers suggested a Michael Kors dress. Take a look at the model below and tell me what you think. I see great similarities. From what I aware of this is the first time we have ever seen Mary wear anything from Michael Kors. Embracing the style she wore a plain black blazer, a snake belt and her classy black SAND Copenhagen pointed pumps. Black and red always make a great look. For those of you who like Mary's business-look then I have a little tip for you to remember. A belted blazer works perfectly with both a dress, skirt and trousers. I have a million examples of outfits with a belted blazer. Think anyone will look good in this combo. Both earrings and bracelets are from Marianne Dulong as seen earlier in the morning, just as with the Prada bag. So, what do you think of her two first outfits from New York?
