Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attending Flag Day 2014

The national Flag Day goes back to 2004. The initiative comes from constable Kim Eg Thygesen. But since 2009, September 5th has been devoted to Flag Day. The day is held to honor those lost in battle, those who died during war and for those soldiers who are stationed. Think almost every year since have Frederik and Mary attended the ceremony and placed a wreath in honor to the soldiers. So they did this year. Side by side did the couple arrive to Kastellet in Copenhagen. This ceremony was only one of three held that day. The couple also attended a church service in Holmen's church and a parade on occasion of the Flag Day 2014. On a day like this, the atmosphere is slightly depressed and it was clear how everybody attending were having the same feelings. I think it is very strong to see the royal couple there; showing their support and sympathy. Both Frederik and Mary have at several occasions payed a visit to the Danish soldiers stationed and are also familiar with the military -Frederik as every from Captain of the reserve army and Captain of the Air Force Reserve and Mary as lieutenant in the Homeguard. Because of that they both know what it takes to serve their duty.

Crown Princess Mary attending How to House! -architecture, welfare and innovation in Bella Centre

Between the first and third and fourth event on occasion of the national Flag Day, the Crown princess had somewhere else to go. Here she attended the opening of How to House! -architecture, welfare and innovation which is a part of the conference entitled Almindelige Boligdage 2014 taking place in Bella Centre, Copenhagen. Mary was warmly welcomed by the sweetest flower girl who handed over a beautiful bouquet of flowers to her. Of course Mary gave a speech as part of the opening ceremony which was followed by a guided tour around the exhibition.

Mary's always well-dressed no matter where she is going, but it takes a real woman to find an outfit that shows elegance, modernity and at the same time is respectable for a task like this. I'm sure many of you noticed the beautiful floral skirt from Hennes & Mauritz (Conscious Collection Fall 2011) worn a few times before. Mary matched her midi skirt with a black Hugo Boss peplum. Very classy she had chosen a Susanne Juul creation, which we have seen at several occasions for instance when the couple visited the United States back in 2010, here. The enamel earrings shaped as flowers is differently new, unfortunately I have not been able to find out about anything. What I do know, is that the black pearl bracelet is from Marianne Dulong. As many times before it is her brown Carlend Copenhagen clutch she had chosen to wear with today's outfit. A lovely match with both the beige gloves, hat and shoes of course -a pair of old goodies from Christian Louboutin. The beige leather gloves hid the fact that she was also wearing her golden Cartier watch. Nothing other than a gorgeous look.
